About Us

The Islamic Museum of Australia (IMA) Education Program is committed to supporting constructive social outcomes through education about Islam and Muslims, in Australia and beyond, and through facilitating intercultural encounters, conversations and dialogue with Muslim perspectives.

The IMA Education Portal provides users with free teaching and learning resources for Years 4-10. These resources are based on the IMA’s permanent galleries (Islamic Faith, Islamic Contributions to Civilisation, Islamic Art, Islamic Architecture, Australian Muslim History) and exhibitions.

There are three levels of access to the teaching and learning resources:

  • General users (without a login) can view some of the teaching and learning resources
  • Educators (with a login) can view and set student learning activities as well as manage and track student learning via a user dashboard, in addition to viewing the teaching and learning resources available for general access
  • Students (with a login) can view and complete student learning activities as well as manage and track their own learning via a user dashboard.

Schools are encouraged to sign-up in order to get the most out of the IMA Education Portal.

The teaching and learning resources on the IMA Education Portal are aligned to a range of Australian Curriculum learning areas as well as the Intercultural Understanding general capability.

The teaching and learning resources are organised according to modules that contain student learning activities and educator notes. The primary-level modules use an integrated curriculum approach while the secondary-level modules are subject-specific.

Designed with transformative learning in mind, the modules provide a mix of content knowledge and reflective activities, and are intended to enhance the IMA educational experience for schools as well as provide an opportunity for all schools in Australia to access the educational potential of IMA.
